Can we think of a world without using Mobile phone in recent days? No, because mobile phone is one of the essential technology and easy way to communicate with our contacts. There are still huge range of service providers and device manufacturers developing in market. All classes of people as we categorize them as A, B, C have the mobile or cellular phone in their pocket to make themselves always available. According to the make & model of the mobile there are something we use as mobile accessories which decorates our handset in a more sophisticated way.

Gist of Mobile Phone History

In 19th Century Mobile system came into existence. Some technologies like Wireless, Zero Generation Mobile phones (0G), Radio Telephony System etc. were introduced at that time. First commercial mobile was launched in Japan called 1G (First Generation) which covers full metropolitan area of Tokyo and it developed further as 2G networks. The first "modern" network technology on digital 2G (second generation) cellular technology was launched by RADIOLINJA (now part of Elisa Group) in 1991. Then later in 2000, many 2G, 3G technologies mobile phones came into market.

Characteristics of Handsets

There are a lot of classes of handsets like basic phones to feature phones. A normal phone has facilities like Messaging, Phone book, Calendar, Games, Calculator etc. This type of Mobile phone does not support any sophisticating technology. Whereas a featured phone will have Java Enabled applications, Multimedia messaging service, Bluetooth devices etc. and still an advanced phone like smart phone has built in Operating System where users can operate mail, Internet, built-in keyboard like QWERTY keyboard facility and also it facilitates external USB keyboard.

One of the features of mobile phones is two various data transmission technologies. They are CDMA and GSM.

  • CDMA – Code Division Multiple Access: This method is used by various radio communication technologies. It allows transmitters to send information at the same time through single communication channel. This technique is mostly used for transportation logistics.
  • GSM – Global System for Mobile Communication: This is also another data transmission technique which offers a great international roaming facility. The availability of Subscriber Identity Modules, which are called SIM cards that provide locked data encryption.
  • As seen above, a cell phone has many supporting accessories and services like SIM cards, Accessories, some stylish features, 3G technology etc. So, a cellular phone is more essential in emerging business world as those people fully utilize this wonderful device.
